Supervised by Michele Jensen, LMFT #48059
Jamie graduated with her Master’s degree in Social Work with specializations in Mental Health and Systems of Recovery from Mental Illness from the University of Southern California. She also received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and has extensive knowledge and training in the areas of trauma-informed care, eating disorders, and addiction.
Since entering the social service field in 2008, Jamie has worked with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families in residential, outpatient, home, and school-based settings. Her clinical background includes the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, psychosis, eating disorders/disordered eating, substance abuse, traumatic stress, and adjustment disorders.
In addition to providing individual, group, and family therapy with Progressive Recovery Counseling Services, Jamie developed and now oversees a program that supports youth with mental health challenges to successfully transition into adulthood. She utilizes a client-centered, strengths-based approach and incorporates psychodynamic, solution-focused, and cognitive behavioral strategies in her work with clients. Jamie is greatly influenced by systems and attachment theories, which emphasize the impact our environment and early relationships have on our perceptions, emotions, and behavior.
Having walked through the healing process herself, Jamie has great respect for those who choose to embark on the recovery journey. She believes this journey is a unique and personal process, therefore treatment must be highly individualized to effectively assist each person. Jamie greatly enjoys helping others discover hope, health, and happiness, and is a firm believer that healing is possible with dedication and support.
Jamie is a native San Diegan who enjoys taking trips to the beach with her dog, hiking local trails, creating art, and spending time with family and friends.
