Michele Jensen, LMFT

Clinical Director

 

Michele, a California native, received her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego and is currently working on completing her doctorate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. In addition, she holds a bachelor’s degree in Pre-Medicine ( Biology) from California State University and has a career background in research and genetic counseling.

 

Michele is currently in private practice and specializes in treating eating disorders, substance abuse, family issues- specifically in relation to addiction and family conflict resolution, couples therapy and premarital counseling. Michele seeks to help her clients obtain their ultimate goal of recovery, spiritual fitness and more satisfying relationships with self, parents, spouse, co-workers, boss, friends and others. Michele also provides clinical supervision to MFT Interns and Trainees.

In addition to her private practice,  she also spends time giving back to her community, conducting speaking engagements and workshops in the San Diego area and throughout California on prevention, education, advocacy and treatment of eating disorders, addictions and co-occurring mental disorders.

 

Not only does Michele have the clinical experience, she has also overcome her own battle with anorexia/bulimia and alcoholism and combines these experiences, along with her strong christian faith, to bring her clients the most comprehensive treatment available on an outpatient basis.

 

Michele works from a collaborative approach, utilizing a variety of clinical theories such as EFT, CBT and Narrative approaches to help her clients map out their own road to recovery as well as provide support and a plan of action to families of those who struggle. She centers her life around her Christian faith, serving her local church by providing spiritual guidance to families Michele has also served as a volunteer  in Malawi, Africa where she provided family services and crisis intervention to remote villages in the Nkhoma area.

 

Michele lives in Carlsbad with her husband, daughter & Pug Dog, Francis. She also enjoys spending time with family, traveling, writing, live music, learning and reading.
